Nielloware has been produced in Thailand for hundreds of years. It is the process of filling in designs that have been engraved in to the silver with niello which is made by fusing together silver, copper and lead and then mixing the molten alloy with sulphur. Quite a traditional art and it  was during the 50's and 60's period last century when it became extremely popular for forces personnel and also tourists to bring back Nielloware jewellery as gifts.  This lovely example has a vibrant turquoise enamelling with the Goddess of Lightening engraved in silver. Marked sterling for silver to the back along with a firm roll over safety clasp Dimension across is 4cms. In very good condition, and gift boxed by Vintageonline.
